The UKs Premier Source for Slackline Equipment

FAQs

  1. Why cant I use my own climbing equipment or buy the component parts seperately?

  2. The golden rule as far as we're concerned is never use your slackline kit for climbing. The forces that you can generate with a slackline are exerted for a longer duration and beyond the safety factor that life saving equipment such as karabiners and slings are designed for. Although the likely hood of failure is small, we have tested equipment to destruction and the risk is real. Using equipment that has been used for slacklining in a climbing situation carries potential lethal risks and even if you do survive an equipment failure, your warranty will be null and void.

For this reason all of our equipment comes clearly labelled ‘For slackline use only – not for climbing'.

Our equipment is manufactured specifically for slacklining, and is genuinely built for the cause. Our slings and Karabiners are built to stand the stresses of being under the forces exerted and will ensure that you can participate in this sport safely.

  3. Is this just a sport for climbers or experienced slackliners?
  4. Absolutely anyone that can walk along the ground can take part. That's what is so great about slacklining, the line does not know if you are young or old, boy or girl, it just sways with your movements as you focus on the end of the line. Seriously, anyone can do it, and if you are a heavier slacker then you just need to pull it a little tighter to stay above the ground. We know of no other sport that can be enjoyed by all that is as fun as slacklining and our specially selected kits make it more accessible than ever.

  5. What makes your equipment different from other sellers offering kits?

The kits we offer are the only fully dedicated slackline kits in the World. Designed from the ground up we believe they give you the best opportunity to get really good at slacklining in the least time possible.

The webbing is selected for its stretch characteristics, high strength and durability as well as its luxuriously fine weave. Although this webbing looks like the webbing sold for climbing accessory tape, it is stronger and less stretchy meaning that it stores less energy. This means that it is safer, as well as being easier to pull tight enough to walk on. A no-brainer in our opinion!

Our karabiners too have been designed especially for slacklining to ensure that the locking gate can easily be undone after a slacklining session and shaped so that the line lies flat more easily. And, like the rest of the kit they are clearly marked ‘For slackline use only – not for climbing' to prevent any potentially dangerous mix-ups if you are a climber as well as a slacker.

If you opt for the Advanced Kit then you will get a set of specially designed slackline pulleys, which make tightening longer lines easy because of the special brake that prevents you from loosing any tension. The concept of the block and tackle pulley was originally devised by Archimedes more than 2000 years ago. Designed as an efficient way of generating mechanical advantage, it is still one of the easiest ways to generate force safely – this is why they are still used in sailing, stage rigging and by the emergency services. Adapting this tried and trusted way of pulling efficiently to slacklining has lead to what we believe is the ultimate slacklining kit. Supplied with easy to follow instructions we think these kits are set a reference for slacklining.
